Dr Nicola Loizou
TCM / ACUPUNCTURE
Nicola is a distinguished practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), who brings a wealth of experience and deep-rooted passion for preventative and holistic medicine to her practice. A graduate of the 5-year Bachelor program at the Sydney Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine Nicola has since completed a 4 year international Diplomate in Canonical Chinese Medicine which specialises in the clinical application of classical herbal medicine.
Her expertise has been honed through 13 years of private practice and by invaluable internships with two of Sydney's most esteemed physicians: a 4-year tenure with Daniel Deng and 3 years with David White. These experiences have equipped her with the skills to treat a wide spectrum of conditions. Nicola's international exposure includes an internship at the prestigious Guangzhou City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China, where she gained experience in dermatology, paediatrics, gynaecology, oncology, orthopaedics and internal medicine.
As a youngster Nicola had great interest in herbal medicine and wanted to learn more about the inner workings of the human body, leading to a lifelong pursuit of natural medicine. Her path to TCM crystallised during her time in the Netherlands, where a serendipitous encounter with the discipline led her to begin a bachelors degree which ignited a passion for this ancient healing art. From that moment, Nicola immersed herself in the study of classical Chinese medical texts, developing a profound appreciation for their timeless wisdom.
As a practitioner, Nicola firmly believes that one of life's most rewarding aspects is the support and assistance we offer to each other on our individual journeys.
She recognises that each person experiences life in their own unique way, and embraces the importance of being authentic and open hearted to one another. For Nicola, a significant part of leading a meaningful life lies in the positive impact and individual gifts we can share with each person we meet along the way.
Nicola’s areas of special interest include mental/emotional issues such as anxiety, depression and emotional trauma, women’s health: gynaecology, fertility and pregnancy, complex, chronic and autoimmune diseases, cancer support, and musculoskeletal conditions. She is committed to tailoring treatments to each patient's specific needs, emphasising prevention and dietary understanding. Nicola strives to create a partnership in healthcare, empowering her patients to take an active role in their journey to wellness.
Outside of her practice, Nicola is a devoted mother of two young children and finds joy in various fibre arts, including knitting, spinning, weaving and quilting. She nurtures a vibrant garden filled with fruit trees, chickens, flowers, and herbs, reflecting her holistic approach to life and health.
Nicola's commitment to her craft extends beyond the clinic. She dedicates her spare time to studying ancient Han Dynasty texts and exploring her specialised interests within TCM to continually enhance her knowledge and practice of this profound medicine.
Nicola is very excited to be joining forces with the team at DCNMC. She has been a local resident for 7 years and is looking forward to providing this community with the support of her expertise and experience in the field of Chinese medicine.
