Your body is designed for balance
Hormone Support
When this balance shifts, the body often speaks through symptoms.
Hormonal changes can show up in many different ways — changes to your menstrual cycle, PMS, mood, energy, sleep, digestion, skin or how you feel through different stages of life.
Sometimes you know exactly what has changed. Other times, you simply don't feel like yourself.
At Diamond Creek Natural Medicine Centre, we take the time to understand your symptoms in the context of your overall health, rather than looking at one symptom in isolation.
Our practitioners use acupuncture, Chinese medicine and naturopathy to provide individualised support for women navigating hormonal and reproductive health concerns.
Hormonal health through different stages of life
These symptoms are signals, not failures.
Your hormonal health can change throughout your life.
We support women through a range of experiences, including:
Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
Menstrual and cycle changes
Painful periods
Irregular cycles
PMOS (formerly known as PCOS)
Endometriosis
Adenomyosis
Perimenopause
Menopause
Hormonal changes associated with fertility and preconception
Changes in energy, sleep, mood or general wellbeing
Your symptoms may be connected to your hormonal health, or there may be other factors worth considering. Your practitioner will help you explore what is relevant to you.
What may be contributing to how you feel?
Hormonal health doesn't exist in isolation.
Depending on your circumstances, we may consider factors such as:
Menstrual and reproductive health
Nutrition and nutrient status
Blood sugar and metabolic health
Digestive health
Sleep
Stress and emotional wellbeing
Lifestyle and physical activity
Relevant medical history
Medications and contraception
Your current stage of life
This doesn't mean every factor needs to be addressed. Your consultation is about identifying what is relevant to you.
How we support hormonal health
Acupuncture
Individualised acupuncture may form part of your care for symptoms associated with menstrual and hormonal health, including PMS, period pain, cycle changes and menopausal symptoms.
Your treatment is based on your presentation, health history and what you are hoping to address.
Chinese medicine
Traditional Chinese medicine takes a whole-person approach to understanding patterns of symptoms and wellbeing.
Your consultation may include Chinese medicine assessment and, where appropriate, Chinese herbal medicine tailored to your individual presentation.
Naturopathy
Naturopathic care may include consideration of nutrition, nutrient status, digestive health, metabolic health, lifestyle and other factors relevant to your symptoms.
Where appropriate, your naturopath may recommend nutritional assessment, dietary changes, pathology or other investigations within their scope of practice.
A whole-person approach
Hormonal symptoms can affect much more than your menstrual cycle.
Changes in hormones and reproductive health may occur alongside changes in sleep, mood, energy, digestion, skin and general wellbeing.
That's why we look at the bigger picture.
Your practitioner will take the time to understand your history, current concerns and goals before discussing an individualised approach to care.
What happens at your first hormone consultation?
Your first consultation is an opportunity to talk through what you've been experiencing and what you would like help with.
Depending on your circumstances, we may discuss:
Your menstrual cycle and reproductive health
Current symptoms and when they began
Sleep and energy
Mood and stress
Digestion and bowel health
Nutrition and lifestyle
Medications and contraception
Relevant medical history
Previous investigations or pathology
From there, your practitioner can discuss which treatment or supportive approaches may be appropriate for you.
Where medical assessment or treatment is required, we encourage you to work with your GP or relevant medical specialist.
